Conversation with Remy Janco and Arjun Khemani on Business, Faith, and Future Projects - May 18, 2025

Overview

This conversation took place in New York City between Gary, his longtime college friend Remy Janco, and Gary's mentee Arjun Khemani (who joined partway through). The wide-ranging discussion covered Remy's manufacturing business challenges, Gary's work with Alpha Schools, geopolitical perspectives particularly regarding Israel and Gaza, personal updates including Remy's engagement, and several ambitious project ideas Gary is developing, including a potential America's 250th anniversary World's Fair and a "Trump World" concept utilizing tokenization of real estate.

Key Points

Remy's Business and Personal Updates

Remy detailed the challenges with his family manufacturing business:

"I have a big manual labor issue. So, like, the cost of labor, the skill of labor, and just manual labor for that type of business. I can't even find people right now."

"Labor's the issue. Labor is my biggest issue."

He explained issues with employee reliability:

"They just don't give a shit at all. They don't care."

"The problem is though I just lost three employees this week... Otherwise people, bro, they don't show. They fall off the face of the earth. Like they don't even tell you they quit. They just don't show up to work the next day."

Remy shared his plans to eventually sell the business:

"Ideally, I'd like to grow the business for another five to seven years. And then I'm going to sell it. I can't do it, dude... Like, it's a grind. It's a grind."

He also shared his personal life update about his engagement:

"I'm really excited that I'm going to get married... Danielle is great. She's a nurse at NYU. She grew up in Brooklyn... She comes from a really amazing Jewish family, a really big family."

"Danielle is a great partner. She supports me in all what I want to do work-wise. She never gives me a hard time."

Gary's Alpha Schools Initiative

Gary explained his work with Alpha Schools:

"The model is a little bit controversial, but it's the future. So we are replacing teachers with AIs that get them through the common core curriculum for the first few hours of the day. But it's not like there's not humans. Like, the humans are more like parents and mentors."

"In New York, we're paying $120K for just, like, people that play the mentor type role. Right? And it's, like, a good work-life balance."

"I think we're going to create the best school system in the world. So we're opening up in New York. I just met with the principal yesterday. We're starting with K-5."

Gary mentioned potential involvement of Remy's fiancée:

"And, like, I bet you why she probably didn't like that was because of the whole structure of it, right? Where... Versus, like, not liking kids, like... I think people go into the teaching profession with a lot of good heart and desire to make a difference."

Faith, Religion, and Personal Values

Both Gary and Remy discussed the importance of faith:

Gary shared:

"I've become really bullish on faith-based stuff. Because I think naturally you just make money, pride, status, your god. If you don't make God your god."

"And then this really fucks with your brain. It makes you fuck over other people."

Remy expressed interest in deepening his Jewish faith:

"I would love to actually... Not only that, but, like, I would love to, like, devote, like, a few years of my life to just studying. If I had the time, I would love to."

"I think, like, it's such a pure way to, like, live. I think there's, like, you take here and there, but, like, I think it's a very pure way to live. It's also, like, I think very mentally free."

"But it's one thing that I don't regret, necessarily, but I wish that I had more of as a kid."

Gary told Remy about his work with the Catholic Church:

"So it was kind of perfect timing for me to get roped more into the church stuff. Because I was kind of done with, honestly, a lot of the secular stuff that I was getting disillusioned from."

"We were uncovering stuff inside the church, we uncovered stuff that I don't think anyone wanted us to uncover."

The Trump World and Tokenization Concept

Gary explained his vision for a "Trump World" project:

"I do believe that we need to create a Trump world in Palestine."

"One way to pacify the experience... The easy mode thing that we have to test out first... Trump world. How do you get America behind this? You literally tokenize the real estate from day one. Right?"

"We have a rare window of opportunity where we have a super bullish crypto president that could do something like give every American an Omni wallet."

"You can literally create a new wallet that you can just keep adding new chains to. And what you could literally do is just give every American citizen a tiny slice of equity in the Trump world."

"So they're all invested in the success of Trump world."

America's 250th Anniversary World's Fair

Gary shared his vision for a grand celebration:

"What's the significance of the July 4th, 2026? It's the 250th anniversary."

"The 250th anniversary is such an epic number, right? And I got some intel that it's a bunch of idiot liberal bureaucrats that are in charge of that commission because they were appointed by Biden, right? And they don't know how to do anything."

"I'm basically... All I would basically... Who knows if I even need this? But what I... Well, I do need this. I need Trump to basically create an alternate committee."

"Something like this is the easiest campaign to raise for because we are the richest country in the world."

"Let's say maybe it's like a whole public-private partnership, but private company that whose whole job is to throw a sick patriotic, futuristic exposition around America and the world. And then everyone in America has a stake in it?"

Geopolitical Perspectives

The conversation touched on several geopolitical topics, particularly regarding Israel:

Remy shared:

"I think the current war will end in the next... In the next eight to ten months. I think that... I think it will end in the next eight to ten months. But, like, I think Israel is going to occupy Gaza. Unfortunately."

"I think fanaticism is very scary. I think people in Western culture don't understand that because it hasn't knocked on their door since 9-11."

"People in Israel have a very different outlook on life. Rightfully so."

Arjun contributed:

"And some people in the West don't realize this, but Israel stands for the West. It does. And it is literally a..."

Gary discussed power dynamics:

"My view on humanity is that we all have to make money together. If the Kushners and other Jews make a ton of money together with... Yeah, then fine."

"Let's be real. The US is not even a democracy."

Future Technologies and Longevity

The conversation briefly touched on future technologies:

Gary asked about automation in Remy's business:

"This is an extremely dumb question. Do you envision the robots being useful anytime? Like Tesla robots?"

Gary and Arjun shared optimism about longevity technology:

Gary: "Even if longevity is still weird for us to be old as fuck during the next... We're going to make it." Arjun: "We're going to make it. Longevity is capable."

Gary also shared his vision for city-scale innovation:

"City projects are totally the next startup, right? Because if you... Let's say, if you're... At least for me, as my network keeps growing and growing and the average network keeps growing and growing, I'm not going to waste my time telling them to invest in the next DoorDash."

"And what we want to do is basically innovate at the whole civilizational level. The whole stack, right? Literally from the foundation of the city itself, the sewage, underground transport, everything."
