Transcript & Relationship File Refactoring Guide

Created: 2025-12-25 Status: Complete Purpose: Document the process for refactoring transcript and relationship files to enable efficient AI agent querying

Overview

This refactor creates a bidirectional linking system between transcript files and relationship files, enabling agents to efficiently answer questions like "What does [person] think about [topic]?" by:

1. Reading the person's relationship file
2. Scanning transcript summaries in the Transcripts table
3. Fetching relevant full transcripts by ID when deeper context is needed

Schema Changes

Transcript Frontmatter

Every transcript file should have this frontmatter structure:

Required fields:

• id - filename without .md extension
• date - YYYY-MM-DD format
• participants - array of full names
• related_people - array of relationship file slugs (lowercase-hyphenated)

Each relationship file should have a ## Transcripts section with this format:

ID Naming Conventions

Single Person Conversations

YYYY-MM-DD-[person-slug]-[topic-slug]

Example: 2025-08-19-mike-ajouz-christian-business

Multi-Person Conversations (2-3 people)

Include all names, ordered alphabetically or by importance:

YYYY-MM-DD-[person1]-[person2]-[topic-slug]

Example: 2025-10-15-alice-chen-bob-smith-funding-strategy

Group Meetings (4+ people)

Use a group descriptor instead of names:

YYYY-MM-DD-[group-descriptor]

Processing Steps

For each transcript file:

1. Read the transcript to identify participants and understand content
2. Add/update frontmatter with id and related_people fields
3. For each related person:
   • Check if relationship file exists in /docs/relationships/
   • Find or create ## Transcripts section
   • Add table row with ID, date, and one-line summary
   • If verbose ## Interaction History exists, convert to table format

• id field matching filename (without .md)
• related_people array linking to relationship file slugs

All corresponding relationship files have been updated with ## Transcripts tables containing ID, date, and one-line summary for each conversation.
