Wabi Product Issues Documentation

Overview​

Initial review of Wabi platform functionality while attempting to build golden example apps. This document catalogs critical issues encountered that significantly impact user experience and platform viability.

Critical Issues​

1. App Creation Failures​

  • White Screen of Death: Multiple apps display completely blank white screens with no functionality
    • Example: Adult Neurodiversity Questions app
    • Frequency: Occurs with multiple different app types
    • Impact: Complete failure of core functionality

2. Audio Functionality Broken​

  • Personalized Pep Talks App:
    • Audio playback shows as "playing" but produces no sound
    • No error messages or user feedback
    • Core feature completely non-functional

3. UI/UX Issues​

Lack of Visual Feedback​

  • Actions like "hearting" a speech show no visual confirmation
  • User has no way to know if actions were successful
  • Backend may be updating but frontend provides no indication

Text Formatting Problems​

  • Kenneth Hagen Quotes App: Double-wrapped quotes creating awkward formatting
  • Text overlapping issues throughout multiple apps

4. Feature Limitations​

Video Functionality​

  • Photomorph Videos App:
    • System warns video functionality doesn't exist
    • Still allows users to create non-functional video apps
    • Poor user experience management

Calendar Integration​

  • Morning Meeting Summary App:
    • Attempts to read calendar events but provides no useful functionality
    • Feature appears incomplete or broken

5. Logic and Data Issues​

  • Scripture Affirmations App:
    • Left/right navigation shows "1 of 15" but does nothing
    • Separate slider shows 1-45 range
    • Images overlap with caption text
    • Multiple UI elements that don't function properly

6. Content Generation Failures​

Static Content Issues​

  • Symbol of the Day App:
    • Shows only one symbol permanently (from November 5th)
    • No daily updates despite app purpose

Fake Data Generation​

  • Daily Voice Journal App:
    • Creates fake transcriptions and summaries
    • No actual audio recording functionality
    • Generates nonsensical "comprehensive project review" content

7. Date/Time Bugs​

  • Daily Voice Journal:
    • Dates appear to be off by 24 hours
    • Entries correctly timestamped but displayed under wrong dates
    • Confusing temporal organization

8. App Update Failures​

  • Update Mom App:
    • Attempting to update the app produces no UI changes
    • App remains broken after update attempts

9. Development Environment Issues​

Configuration Bar Disappearing​

  • Top bar for app reconfiguration randomly disappears
  • Forces complete restart of app development process
  • Major workflow disruption

10. Complete App Failures​

  • Dear Self Journaling: Another white screen of death
  • Multiple apps simply don't load or function at all

11. Push Notification Failures​

  • Two-Pot Recipe Timer App:
    • User explicitly requests push notifications for cooking alerts (boiling vs. simmering)
    • System defaults to in-app notifications only
    • Retries fail to enable push notifications

12. AI/App Self-Correction Loops​

  • Repeat After Me Affirmations App:
    • App gets stuck in a broken state
    • AI agent claims to fix the issue but the fix doesn't persist or apply
    • Results in an infinite loop of broken flow

13. Audio Hardware Integration​

  • Voice Dictation:
    • Functionality restricted to headphones only
    • Does not work through phone speaker
    • Significant limitation for hands-free usage

Impact Assessment​

User Experience​

  • Severity: Critical
  • New users likely to abandon platform immediately
  • Core promise of "create apps through text prompts" fundamentally broken

Platform Viability​

  • Current state suggests platform is not ready for public use
  • Basic functionality failures across multiple app types
  • No consistent pattern to predict what will or won't work

Developer Experience​

  • Frustrating development process with disappearing UI elements
  • No clear error messages or debugging information
  • Time wasted on creating non-functional apps

Recommendations​

Immediate Priorities​

  1. Fix white screen of death issues - complete app failures
  2. Implement proper error handling and user feedback
  3. Disable creation of app types that aren't supported (video)
  4. Fix audio playback functionality

Short-term Fixes​

  1. Resolve date/time display bugs
  2. Fix UI navigation elements that don't work
  3. Implement visual feedback for all user actions
  4. Fix text formatting and overlay issues

Strategic Considerations​

  1. Consider beta labeling if not already present
  2. Implement comprehensive testing before feature release
  3. Create clear documentation of what works vs. what doesn't
  4. Build proper error reporting system for users

Next Steps​

  • Compile visual documentation (screenshots) for each issue
  • Create reproducible test cases for engineering team
  • Prioritize issues by user impact
  • Develop golden app examples that actually work before promoting platform
