Episode 028: Your Progress Compounds

Script

Welcome back to The Daily Spirit. Monday, January 12th, 2026. Five minutes of spirit-filled encouragement to kick off what I'm hearing is going to be the best day of your life.

Are you in a valley right now?

I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Life has peaks and valleys. You're going to experience times where things just kind of suck. That's the reality. But it's how you deal with it that matters.

I was listening to Bill Ackman talk about a season in his life where everything went wrong at once. His fund was down over 30 percent. The press was tearing him apart. There was litigation. He was going through a divorce.

As bad as it gets.

But here's how he got through it. He said: "Each day I'm going to make progress. I'm not going to look back to where I was. I'm just going to focus on the next step, and then the next step. You don't notice any meaningful change for the first few weeks. But about 90 days in, you're like, okay, I'm here. Here's where I was."

Compounding. Little by little. One percent at a time.

This is biblical. Proverbs 13:11 says:

"Easy come, easy go, but steady diligence pays off."

Steady diligence. Not overnight success. Not waiting for the big break. Just putting your hand on the shovel every day. Sowing your seed in the morning and not letting up.

I'm going to be honest with you. I feel like I'm coming out of a valley right now. Climbing up into what I believe will be the biggest peak of my life. But I'm not there yet.

What keeps me going is this: keep your foot on the gas. Let your work compound. Especially now. In this age of AI, when you build technology, when you build systems, things can scale. Social media followings. Products. Impact. This is the time where daily consistency pays off more than ever.

Don't look back to where you used to be. That will only discourage you. Focus on the next step. Then the next.

And take care of yourself while you climb. Exercise. Sleep. Good nutrition. Surround yourself with people you love. Your body is your vehicle for this mission. Protect it.

The curves of compounding start slow. You don't see much for weeks. But eventually? They take off.

Keep going.

Let's speak some truth and life over your day. Repeat after me.

I make progress every single day.

My work is compounding.

I don't look back. I look forward.

I take care of my body and my spirit.

This will be the best day of my life.

Go get after it. God is with you. Talk tomorrow.

Steady Diligence Pays Off

Life has peaks and valleys. You're going to experience times where things just kind of suck. That's the reality. But it's how you deal with it that matters.

"Easy come, easy go, but steady diligence pays off."

— Proverbs 13:11 (MSG)

Bill Ackman once talked about a season where everything went wrong at once. Fund down 30 percent. Negative press everywhere. Litigation. Divorce. As bad as it gets.

His method: "Each day I'm going to make progress. I'm not going to look back to where I was. I'm just going to focus on the next step. You don't notice any meaningful change for the first few weeks. But about 90 days in, you're like, okay, I'm here."

Compounding. Little by little. One percent at a time.

I'm going to be honest. I feel like I'm coming out of a valley right now. Climbing toward what I believe will be the biggest peak of my life. But I'm not there yet.

What keeps me going: keep your foot on the gas. Let your work compound. In this age of AI, when you build systems, things can scale. This is the time where daily consistency pays off more than ever.

Don't look back to where you used to be. That will only discourage you. Focus on the next step.

And take care of yourself while you climb. Exercise. Sleep. Nutrition. Surround yourself with people you love.

The curves of compounding start slow. But eventually? They take off.
