Episode 00004: Holy Rest
December 6, 2025
Greeting
Welcome back to The Daily Spirit. Saturday, December 6th, 2025. Five minutes of spirit-filled encouragement. Our first Saturday episode.
Opening Hook
You've been working hard this week. I know you have.
Maybe you were super productive and crushed it. Maybe you barely got through it. Either way, you showed up. You pushed through resistance. You did the thing.
And now it's Saturday.
So I want to encourage you to do something that might feel counterintuitive. Especially since I know you're ambitious and have a fire in your belly.
Rest.
Scripture & Core Message
Genesis 2:2-3: "By the seventh day God had finished his work. On the seventh day he rested from all his work. God blessed the seventh day. He made it a Holy Day because on that day he rested from his work."
Even God rested. Think about that.
The Creator of the universe. Infinite power. Unlimited energy. And He still rested. Not because He was tired. Because He was showing us something. Setting a rhythm. Making rest holy.
If God rested, who are you to skip it?
Exhortation
Here's what I want you to hear today. Not as a command. As an invitation.
You can be ambitious and obedient. You can work hard and rest hard. These aren't opposites. They're partners.
I know I sound like a Christian Bryan Johnson right now, but getting good sleep. Recharging to a full tank. These aren't guilty pleasures. They're promises. They're what He wants for you.
1 Corinthians 6:19: "Didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit?"
Your body is a temple. Treat it like one.
This weekend, I'm going to spend some time with my pastor. He lives hours away, so when we connect, I treasure it. I value being fed. Diligently. Regularly. By someone who fills me up and keeps me accountable.
Find that for yourself. Go to a service. Listen to a sermon. Get fed by a pastor who's good for you. If you have family, be with them. Be present. Put your phone and laptop down. At least for a big chunk of time.
Then rest. Not because you're weak. Because you're wise. Because you're obedient.
Affirmations
Let's speak some truth over your rest. I'll say it, you repeat.
[Pause after each for repetition]
My rest time is holy.
I honor God by taking care of my body.
I and ambitious AND obedient.
I receive rest as a gift, not a weakness.
I will be fed and I will be filled, this weekend.
Closing
That's it for today.
Rest well. Get fed. Enjoy the people you love.
God is with you. See you Monday.
